The Program Mission
Converse County CSBG goal is to improve self-sufficiency on the part of clients and assist them to improve their financial situation. Our eligibility is based on household size, household income, and being a county resident for at least 30 days. The goal of the program is to aid in becoming self-sufficient, meaning to improve the individual's ability to problem solve, identify resources, identify needs, to locate/access those resources, and to meet personal and household needs independently.
We offer:
Emergency needs: Food, Transportation, Medical, permanent housing, employment needs. Give one of our friendly staff a call if you have questions.
Educational Needs: Through partnerships, we offer educational and personal development grants to build stronger single parents, individuals, and their brains to gain new skills to assist in navigating these challenging times. Mindfulness simply means directing attention in a purposeful manner.
We aim to help them with Life skills and Soft skills. Our goal in developing these skills is to help them to become more self-sufficient. Our vision is to develop better mental health, healthy individuals, families, and citizens in Converse County.
Our Program serves all qualified converse county residents who need additional assistance beyond their emergency needs. Who are willing to learn and put in the work to meet their needs.

We currently have several grants available.
One is called emergency assistance.
That is a one-time grant for up to $500.00 for Emergency Needs.
The other Grants are educational grants. Helps with online job training and offers financial support. The grants include Case Management for up to 90 days or until your goal is Achieved or you become self-sufficient.
We are offering courses in CNA certification and assistance with job placement with a local partner. The grants will pay for case management, your course support materials and it may help pay a portion of your rent and utilities while in the course work. This course Goal is self-sufficiency and employment or employment as a certified CNA.

The other educational grant is to learn a remote position or prepare you for Re-entry into the workforce in person or improve your mental health needs.
These grants may offer case management, coaching, one on one job coaching, a 30-day subscription to LinkedIn, flex jobs, and online courses. The grants will pay for your course support materials and may help pay a portion of your rent and utilities while in the course work. The goal is self-sufficiency and employment.

A major service is case management for clients. Our program may refer clients to additional services or agencies and other partners and organizations for additional resources that may be outside our funding abilities. In that capacity, this program has been able to leverage thousands of additional funds.
